Art Director.
creative director.
DIRECTOR.
Over the years, these are a few things I’ve been.
I started my career as an Art Director and later became a Creative Director, developing a nontraditional approach to advertising at agencies including Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Leagas Delaney, Goodby Silverstein & Partners, and BSSP. Along the way, I worked with brands like adidas, eBay, Ace Hardware, Netflix, MINI, and Priceline, and picked up a few awards — including a Grand Clio and Cannes Grand Prix for IKEA’s Lamp (directed by Spike Jonze). I was also named one of Creativity’s Top 10 Art Directors in the world.
More recently, I’ve been directing. I’m represented by FANCY in the US, Skin & Bones in Canada, Snapper Films in the UK, SOUP in Germany, and Pumpkin Film in Switzerland. It all started with a MINI spot called Ahhhhhh! and has since grown into a body of work spanning a wide range of projects — all approached with a cinematic eye, a love of performance, and a tendency to take ridiculous ideas very seriously.
I’m drawn to visual storytelling, comedy dialogue, and anything with four wheels. And I have a hard time saying no to a good period piece.
I’m also a husband, a dad to two boys, and a Chocolate Lab named Mud. One of them still thinks I’m really cool.

“During my tenure as CMO at Priceline, I had the pleasure of working directly with Steve for over 10 years as we developed and expanded the most iconic campaign in the history of travel – The Priceline Negotiator. Throughout his time working on behalf of Priceline, Steve consistently demonstrated his outstanding creative talent and dedication to our brand through his work. His track record of developing award-winning campaigns, which garnered multiple Effie awards, speaks for itself. More importantly, Steve’s work played a pivotal role in propelling Priceline ahead of our competitors within the travel industry for many years. His ability to craft compelling narratives and intricate brand stories set us apart and captured both customer and media attention. Steve was a fantastic collaborator, always attentive to client feedback, and willing to go above and beyond to ensure that the creative work aligned perfectly with our brand positioning. I could always count on Steve to manage through challenging creative sequences, extremely short schedules, tight budgets, and cranky talent.
In short, Steve Mapp’s contributions have been instrumental in the success of Priceline, and I have the utmost confidence in his abilities as a creative professional. He has my highest recommendation, and I’m confident that any organization fortunate enough to work with him will experience the same level of excellence and success. I’m looking foreword to my next creative project with Steve.”
— Brett Keller, CEO of Priceline
“Steve Mapp is a very unique creative with brilliant ideas who remained grounded in the world of mere mortals.
During my time as President of MINI USA, he always had my great respect and unbroken trust.
He consistently encouraged us to take creative risks, but always with a clear understanding of the practical implications.
I would not have agreed to pursue some of the ideas that ultimately proved so successful without Steve’s calm confidence and his ability to make you believe in the potential of the work. When I trusted him, I knew he had my back.
If Steve truly believed in something, it was never a question of whether it would work, but whether it would be successful, very successful, or blindingly brilliant. That confidence enabled me to defend some of our boldest ideas against strong internal critics.
He has an enviable track record of successful brand building — and remains someone people want to work with.”
